BARKS Adoption Days
BARKS Information Web

BARKS was introduced in 1973 for the purpose of rescuing and fostering sick, injured, abandoned, and abused animals. BARKS sponsors proper veterinary care and foster homes until the animals can be placed in loving permanent homes.  Each year BARKS finds homes for over three hundred and fifty cats and kittens and one hundred dogs and puppies. All these animals are homeless or abandoned and many, because they are ill or injured, require extensive veterinary care as well as socialization to make them suitable for adoption. BARKS is a very successful organization, which is evident by the number of adoptions which are achieved through a careful screening and application procedure.

BARKS is a non-profit organization. All revenues come solely from private, individual donations, adoption fees, and fundraisers. All donations are tax deductible. BARKS is also a 100% volunteer organization. There are no salaried employees. All donations go directly for the care and maintenance of the animals.

An important source of revenue for BARKS is the semi-annual garage sale held in April and October. If you have any items to donate, such as clothing, household items, tools, sporting goods, furniture, jewelry, or books, please call Lois Koch-Vitale at (973) 786-5763. All donations are gratefully accepted 12 months of the year. If not, please make a tax deductible donation today, knowing your generosity will help give an orphaned creature a loving and caring home. Please contact BARKS if you can donate professional expertise such as legal, accounting, computer, administrative, carpentry, electrical, or other trade help. Throughout the year, BARKS needs many supplies to care for the animals. Donations of any of the following would be greatly appreciated: cat liter, canned cat or dog food, blankets, towels, chew toys and bones, bleach and laundry detergent, paper towels, and plastic bags.

Call (973) 300-3185 to ask about fostering a cat or dog in your home on a temporary basis, volunteering at adoption days and at the garage sales, or helping to organize fundraising events or other volunteer activities. Please join BARKS. Membership is just $5 per year. Help rescue poor, unfortunate animals.
