Department of Public Works


The Department of Public Works (DPW) includes the following divisions:  Roads, Sewers, Recycling, Buildings and Grounds, Park Maintenance, and Fleet Maintenance.   DPW responsibilities include:

-          Byram Township's trash and recycling programs.  Click here for trash information; click here for recycling information

-          Maintenance of approximately 80 miles of roadways, 6 sewer pumping stations and 2 miles of sewer mains

-          Snow and ice removal

-          Maintenance of storm drains and basins

-          Maintenance of township buildings

-          Maintenance of township parks, playgrounds and athletic fields

-          Coordination of annual roadway resurfacing program

-          Fleet maintenance of township owned vehicles, including fire and police

-          Removal of downed trees on township properties

-          Cutting grass on township properties

-          Traffic sign installation and repair

-          Coordination of events such as curbside leaf pick-ups, Christmas tree pick-ups, limited bulk disposal and disposal days for e-waste, rigid plastics, etc.

-          Supporting township committees and grant efforts

 

2018 LEAF PICK-UP - will occur curbside for one week in November and again a week December.   The dates are to be determined.   Residents must place the leaves in biodegradable bags and are encouraged to place the bags out the night before.  Trucks will come once during the scheduled week.    If residents wish, they may bring leaves in biodegradable bags, or loose, to the Recycling Center at 10 Mansfield Drive during daylight hours.

Household Hazardous Waste - FREE disposal days:  June 2 and November 3, 2018


Please report any repairs, requests for service or potential unsafe conditions on township properties (such as potholes, hazardous trees, drainage problem, etc.).  This can be done by:

  • reporting via email (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)), or
  • contacting DPW Secretary at 973-347-2500 x138, or
  • completing the E-Gov form directly

 

PLEASE HELP US KEEP OUR CATCH BASINS CLEAN AND FREE FROM DEBRIS BY NOT DUMPING ANYTHING IN THEM OR IN OUR TOWNSHIP WATERWAYS
