Recycling Information

1.  Recycling - Once a month per schedule.  Items can be co-mingled but must be in a reusable container, not a plastic or paper bag or box.  Mix together tin and aluminum food cans, glass food and beverage jars and bottles, and plastic soda, water, juice and detergent containers ONLY.  Items should be rinsed clean and labels removed from tin cans.  Paper goods: newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office paper, heavy corrugated packing boxes can be mixed together in a reusable container or tied with string.

2.  Trash Collection - Once a week per schedule.  Trash should go out the night before pickup day.  Trash Cans larger than 33 Gallons will not be picked up.

3.  Bulky Waste - Collected curbside on regular trash pickup day (carpeting, furniture, mattresses, televisions).  No metal, major appliances (e.g., refrigerators, stoves), tires, construction material or hazardous material.  Only put out several items each week.  If you are emptying several rooms in a house, you need to pay for a dumpster.

4.  Recycling Center - 10 Mansfield Drive, Byram Twp.
Open:  Wednesdays 7:30AM - 2:00PM, Saturdays 7:30AM - 4:00PM
We accept all recyclable items:  metal, auto tires without rims, and major appliances (remove refrigerator doors).  No construction material.

5.  Leaf Dump - The Leaf Dump has been relocated to the Recycling Center at Mansfield Drive.  C.O. Johnson Park is no longer a leaf dump.  The new Leaf Dump is open April 12 - December 9, weather permitting.  Hours:  Wednesdays and Saturdays 8:00AM-3:00PM.  No commercial accounts accepted.  Brush is only accepted April 12 - October 21 and must be 4" or less in diameter (no stumps, roots or old firewood).  Do not rake leaves or shovel snow into street!

6.  Construction Debris and Hazardous Waste - Sheet rock, wood, concrete, shingles, etc., motor oil, and hazardous wastes must be brought to the Sussex County Landfill, Rt. 94, Lafayette (973) 579-6998.

7.  Christmas Tree Pickup - Place curbside for pickup week of January 9, 2006 (weather permitting).  Please remove all tinsel and decorations.
