All members are appointed by the council. The ARC meets pm the
3rd Tuesday of every month at 8:30 PM at the Municipal Building. The ARC is established through the Village Center Ordinance to review development proposals for the new Village Center and advise the Planning Board on a variety of issues, including site planning, architectural styles and details, streetscapes, design of parks, trails, and open space, and also whether Village Center development applications are complete and have met the design requirements set forth in the ordinance. council and serve 4 years. The local Board of Health contracts Health Services through the Sussex County Health Department. The Environmental Commission meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM at the Byram Township Municipal Building. Reviews all Land Use (Planning Board) applications; obtains and administers grants and produces various studies; advises Planning Board, Council, Smart Growth Task Force, Open Space Committee on environmental and land issues; runs a booth at Byram Day, speaks at environmental workshops about its work; produced and updates the Township's 1994 Natural Resources Inventory. The Master Plan Project Team meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM at the Byram Township Municipal Building. The MPPT is advising Township Planner Paul Gleitz on revisions to the Master Plan and helping to prepare a new draft Master Plan to be presented to the Planning Board for review and approval. Open Space Advisory: Morris Land Conservancy The Committee meets on the 2nd Monday of every OTHER month at 7:30 PM at the Byram Township Municipal Building. The Open Space Committee consists of the Township Manager, a member of the Environmental Commission, a member of the Planning Board, a member of the Recreation Commission and a Member of the Public. Prepared and implemented the Township's October 2000 Open Space and Recreation Plan; helped pass the 1999 referendum imposing a 2-cents-per-hundred open space tax; obtains grant funding for open space projects, currently $1.8 million from the State; negotiates and implements open space agreements, with the Council's approval of expenditures; speaks at open space seminars. The Planning Board meets the First and Third Thursday of every month at 8:00 PM at the Municipal Building. (Meeting dates listed with Agendas / Minutes). This board addresses planning and zoning issues including revisions to the master plan and recommendations of zoning/site plan ordinances. Variances and site plan/subdivision applications are reviewed and processed through this board. Recreation CommitteeThe Byram Township Council and its Recreation Commission is pleased to announce that Byram Township has hired (2002) its first Recreation Director to oversee the town recreation programs and, in conjunction with the Department of Public Works, the Town park system.
